Named after Lane College, a private, historically black college founded in 1882 by the Colored Methodist Episcopal Church, The SS Lane Victory was launched out of the California Shipbuilding Corporation docks on May 31, 1945. Its maiden voyage was on June 27 of that year. This Steam Ship has served in World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Along with an extremely storied history, The SS Lane Victory was designated a U.S. National Historic Landmark on December 14th, 1990. The Lane Victory is a special ship, and we hope to honor its legacy with this event. Its history will inform the narrative and production design of the experience. Please note that while we will have access to most of the ship, some areas will not be accessible to play. These areas will be clearly marked as off limits and not a part of the experience. The deck of the Selket will be accessible only to those in a Class 1 Vacc suit. We have images (2D and 3D) of the Lane Victory before it is dressed as the EGS Selket here.
